Why isn’t the next PM doing anything?

Sunak, Mordaunt, Johnson? Contenders who could replace Truss. But none of them would have to go around in the press wearing that black eye patch.

Haven’t I already mentioned the only one (in the entire history of the planet or at least within its borders) who seemed remotely qualified to replace Truss as Prime Minister, and that is Prime Minister? I don’t think I’ve ever even mentioned Prime Minister.

Mordaunt, Johnson and Winstanley are all three out of office for more than a season or two, if ever.

So, it’s not clear as to when the next Prime Minister will take over from Truss?

I was wondering the same thing.

And if the government is going to be doing something it should have been doing when Mr. Truss resigned…then why isn’t our PM doing anything?

I’m guessing it has to do with something that the PM did or said that the PM feels was critical enough to be held against his or her name

If we can get this sorted, I believe we’re going to get a new PM and a new government. (If not, I’m sure a political party will step in and attempt to do so.)

There are no such things as “free” elections in the UK. You may remember the 2010 general election, where a party (Labour) who were in government before 2010 decided they didn’t wish to make a full term in office. All of the other parties in parliament then voted in a new leader for the party.

While I don’t see how it could be done in this case, it’s a fact that if the UK gets another election in the next few weeks/months, we could have a whole new government.

So, if the election is not to happen, then if you want a new PM, the new PM needs to step down and the next PM would then need to be selected from the current government.
