JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The son of an actor and model who died in a fiery car crash in Hollywood was just 11 when he was killed, but he was making plans for his future.

James Anthony Jr., 24, a former Navy pilot and former member of Hollywood’s prestigious Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, was killed four days after piloting a rented Ford Fusion to pick up a woman for a date in Malibu, according to police and the Hollywood star’s sister.

The younger Anthony died on Saturday in the fiery crash with his father, Hollywood talent agent James Anthony Sr. who was killed earlier in the day, authorities said. One person was injured in the crash.

Authorities said the son was piloting the rented car at the time it went off the road and struck a tree at the intersection of Mulholland Drive and Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu. The driver of the car, a woman passenger, was critically injured and taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

According to police, James Jr. was driving the rented car north on Mulholland Drive when he failed to stop and crashed head-on into a tree, causing significant damage to his rental car. The Hollywood star, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was driving a 2015 Ford Fusion, according to police.

The woman who was driving the car was in the passenger’s seat.

Investigators released photos of the son in the passenger’s seat, but did not release the woman’s face or names of her passengers. Authorities continue to search for the driver, who remains at large.

The collision sparked a massive manhunt for the woman who left the scene of the crash within an hour, police said at a press conference around 11 a.m. Sunday. She is believed to be driving a white Mercedes Benz sedan.

Police have identified the passenger in the back seat as a 47-year-old California resident named Mary Beth B
