On Wednesday, Cardi B made it clear that while she and her boyfriend, Offset, are still best friends, as they were when the pair met in New York in May 2014.
“Me & my boo #Friends4Forever,” the pop singer/rapper posted to Instagram along with a video of her and her boyfriend walking on a beach in Cabo San Lucas.
Earlier that day, another post by the rapper, who has appeared in past holiday ad campaigns for Victoria’s Secret and Abercrombie & Fitch, appeared to reference a viral clip from a recent episode of “South Park,” in which a clown with an animated face was making a racist joke about Obama.
In the clip, which resurfaced Wednesday, a clown, with his face hidden, tells Obama, “We’re all black. Nobody’s perfect.”
“This is a real country n****r,” says the voice of the clown, according to a transcript. “This is the United States of America.”
Cardi B quickly responded with a post of her own, in which she wrote, “This n****r from ‘South Park’ is the guy you call ‘Crocodile.”
The two then appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” where they laughed about the exchange.
“That was so funny,” said Cardi B in an Instagram video on Wednesday, with her boyfriend, Offset, in the background. “I don’t know if I’d want to be friends with someone like that. I feel like a good friend will always stand up with you when you’re being mean to someone, or being rude to someone, but just because someone has their own opinions… does not mean everybody else’s opinions have to conform to theirs.”
By mid-day on Thursday, however, the “Friends” star, 38, and her boyfriend, 31, were trading barbs on social media. They’re now dating two years after they met.
